WASHINGTON – An elderly woman was thrown to the ground and robbed as she left a Montgomery County Safeway Tuesday night.
Detectives have released a surveillance video that shows the woman collecting her bags when the man accosts her inside the grocery store, at 13814 Outlet Drive, in the Briggs Chaney area.
About 9:40 p.m., the man approached her from behind, threw her to the ground and robbed her of cash. He then fled the area on foot, Montgomery County police say.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police say.
Police are looking for a black man, age 20 to 25, about 6-foot-1, weighing 190 pounds. He was wearing a black knit hat, a dark blue puffy jacket, light khaki pants and a black backpack.
