An investigation into a weekend shooting at a Northeast D.C. club has led authorities to probe a broader question: whether some establishments in the city are using catering companies to skirt liquor licensing laws and operate as bars under the District’s radar, The Washington Post reported.
District authorities now want to determine whether DC Soundstage, where police say five people were shot early Saturday morning, and other establishments are using caterers to operate more like bars and restaurants — with regular hours, menus and drink specials — than like event venues.
