WASHINGTON – The nation’s capital is the second most important theater town in the U.S. right behind New York’s Broadway and the big announcement is just around the corner.
One of the economic engines driving this area is its theater scene. With 80 professional theaters around town, the District is fast becoming the second biggest theaters market next to New York. As a result, this year’s Helen Hayes Awards are a very big deal for the area.
On Monday night for the first time, TheatreWashington will announce the 2013 Helen Hayes Awards Nominations at the National Theater’s Helen Hayes Gallery in the District.
If you can’t attend the event in person, the organziation is sponsoring the first live webcast of the event. The nominations can be watched on the Live Webcast starting at 6:45 p.m.
TheatreWashington’s Chairman Victor Shargai says of the event that now “We friend, we tweet and now we stream.”
