Suburban Hospital taps Johns Hopkins physician as new president

Dr. Gene Green, a senior executive within Johns Hopkins Medicine’s doctors group, has been appointed president of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda.

He will replace veteran hospital chief Brian Gragnolati, who will now turn his attention full-time to his corporate duties as senior vice president in charge of the system’s Community Division. The division includes Suburban, Howard County General Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital in D.C.

Green is in his 10th year in Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, a multi-specialty group with approximately 400 medical providers in 37 locations. Most recently, he was chief medical officer of the group.

The moves are effective Feb. 1, a spokeswoman said. Green will become Suburban’s first new president since Hopkins acquired the facility in 2009.
