WASHINGTON – WTOP anchor Hillary Howard will be hosting her third season of the Washington D.C. game show “It’s Academic.”
The high school quiz show airs Saturday mornings, on NBC 4.
“It’s Academic” first aired in October, 1961, making it the longest-running television quiz show in the world. High school students compete to answer questions on a variety of topics.
“It’s Academic” is produced in Washington D.C., Baltimore and Charlottesville, Va.
Howard became host of the District’s edition of “It’s Academic” in September, 2011 after long-time quizmaster Mac McGarry retired.
“I still try to channel Mac McGarry on the podium,” Howard says. “He will always be the quizmaster!”
Howard says she is inspired by the students who compete on the show, and they often impress her by reciting jokes, limericks and even the number Pi.
“I love that they understand knowledge makes life richer,” she says.
