WASHINGTON (9/19/12 – 2:24 pm) – The clear conspiracy surrounding one of the most flagrant injustices in sports has finally garnered some attention in the nation’s capital.

A new short film narrated by documentarian Ken Burns addresses the question that has sullied the very essence of sportsmanship: Why hasn’t Teddy won the 4th-inning foot race?

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is calling for congressional action (Really) to investigate the wrongdoing (Well, sort of).

“He brought America into the 20th century and transitioned us from a relatively minor nation into a world power,” McCain says in the film, cradling a Roosevelt bobblehead. “I am outraged. That’s why I’m calling for congressional hearings to right this wrong.”

In more than 500 appearances, Teddy has never once legally won the race from the outfield to near first base. On multiple occasions, a rival mascot tackles Roosevelt when it appears he might cross first. Other times, he has been disqualified for inappropriate use of devices such as a zip-line or motor scooter.

The video features analysis from a Roosevelt descendent, as well as Nationals leadership, including Tom Davis, Nationals’ entertainment manager. It is based around conspiracy aggregation blog, Let Teddy Win.
