WASHINGTON – Shoppers looking for back-to-school deals can take advantage of tax- free shopping in Maryland through Aug. 18.
Clothing and shoes under $100 are part of Maryland’s tax free week.
The tax break does not apply to school supplies, accessories or handbags.
Items that cost more than $100 will be taxed in Maryland.
Maryland lists all of the details of its tax-free week on its Shop Maryland page.
It is the second biggest shopping week for the state, right behind Christmas, according to Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot.
Store coupons that reduce the price below the $100 threshold qualify. Manufacturers coupons that reduce the price do not qualify for the tax break.
