WASHINGTON – Java lovers who slip behind the wheel of a new Italian car will no longer need to make a pit stop at Starbucks.
The Fiat 500L will have a built-in espresso maker.
The coffee machine was created in collaboration with Lavazza, a well-known Italian coffeemaker.
“The 500L is the first standard-production car in the world to offer a true espresso coffee machine that utilizes the technology of the ‘A Modo Mio’ pods,” the company says in a news release
Fiat has a video that shows a cartoon couple discussing their desire for coffee — then drinking up inside the car.
There’s been growing concern about all of the new gadgets and features being added into vehicles. Safety experts say many drivers are becoming too distracted, and not paying enough attention to the road.
A spokesman for Fiat tells CNN the expresso machine does not operate unless the car is stopped and notes it has a docking station that is locked.
The car is expected to be introduced in the U.S. next year.
