WASHINGTON – Religion isn’t just for Sundays anymore.
A Christian group called Museum of the Bible says it plans to open a Bible museum in Washington. The nonprofit group represents the collection of billionaire Steve Green.
The group says it had considered Dallas and New York before deciding on the District.
Cary Summers with the museum told the Religious News Service that Washington made the most sense.
“In reality, the population base within that 8- to 10-hour drive of D.C. represents half the U.S. or two-thirds, and there’s a lot of Christians in that group,” Summers told the Religious News Service.
Unlike the city’s free Smithsonian museums, the currently-untitled Bible museum will charge patrons.
The group is still looking for a location and plans to open within the next four years.
