WASHINGTON – It’s not often anyone hears this: Gas prices keep falling.
WTOP’s latest Pain in the Gas Survey shows the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline is now $3.97, down 4 cents from a week ago.
Mid-grade dropped 5 cents to $4.18 a gallon. Premium is down by 6 cents to $4.29 a gallon. Diesel prices held steady at $4.28 a gallon.
The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Maryland, where unleaded regular is $3.90 a gallon. The average is $3.91 a gallon in Virginia and $4.11 a gallon in the District.
D.C.’s average rate didn’t change, holding at $4.11 a gallon. Maryland is down to $3.90 a gallon, while Virginia is at $3.91 a gallon.
A year ago this week WTOP’s gas survey found unleaded regular to be $4.08 a gallon.
