WASHINGTON – After the remains of two Virginia missing brothers were found eight months apart, police are investigating their deaths as homicides.
The brothers, identified as Manuel Mireles-Garcia and Alberto de Jesus Mireles-Garcia, were reported missing from their home on Fuller Heights Road in Prince William County by a relative in May 2010.
The brothers’ skeletal remains were found in March 2011 and July 2010 in the Lorton area. The most recent remains were found by a driver near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Old Colchester Road.
The sites are about a mile apart on opposite sides of I-95, said Fairfax Police spokesman Eddy Azcarate.
The brothers remains were linked by DNA Wednesday. The county medical examiner found that both brothers, in their 30’s, died from blunt force trauma. He has ruled their deaths as homicides.
The examiner could not determine if the two men died at the same time.
Fairfax County Police are asking for the public’s help solving these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS, e-mail at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637..
