WASHINGTON – Sometimes the gears of the Washington take longer to grind.
So while iPhones and Androids are dominating the cellphone market nationwide, the BlackBerry remains supreme in the nation’s capital.
The Washington Post reports that President Barack Obama and a half a million federal workers still use the devices to conduct official Washington business, despite dropping overall sales by BlackBerry maker Research in Motion.
Some federal agencies are beginning to allow other smartphones, and lawmakers can now bring iPhones into the halls of Congress.
But Casey Coleman, chief information officer at the General Services Administration, tells the Post officials think highly of Research in Motion’s focus on security, “which is paramount for government use.”
