WASHINGTON – Twitter is a great place to find discounts and printable coupons by following retailers and restaurants you like.
And now there’s a new twist.
You can now link your American Express card account to your Twitter account.
Once you do, you can take advantage of some pretty good deals.
Some of those being offered now include $5 back on your credit card statement when you make a $5 purchase at McDonald’s, or $10 back when you spend $50 at Cheesecake Factory.
Most deals are only available for a limited time, and new deals will be added regularly.

There is a catch. You have to tweet a special hashtag that corresponds to each deal before you can claim it, so you’re doing a little advertising.
For example, to get $5 back on your next $25 purchase at Gulf Oil, you have to send out a tweet that includes this hashtag: #AmexGulfOil.
An automated notification system will detect your tweet if your card is linked to Twitter and send a confirmation tweet back to you. That way you can go ahead and make a charge knowing you’ll get money back later.
