WASHINGTON – What you eat might be as important to losing weight as how many calories you consume.
Eggs versus a bagel? You’re likely to lose 65 percent more weight on a two-month diet by eating breakfast five days a week with two eggs, toast and jelly versus a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories.
Self Magazine’s book “The Drop Ten Diet” has a list of what it calls superfoods. The list details foods that are delicious and good for the waistline.
Here are a few examples to get you started:
- A three-fourths cup of lentils helps your body burn 23 percent more fat over the course of the next day.
- A low-calorie diet with low- or non-fat yogurt burns 81 percent more belly fat versus dieting without yogurt.
- Does cheese tortellini sound good for lunch? Eat an apple 15 minutes before the pasta and you’re likely to eat 187 fewer calories overall.
