Chekhov, Dostoyevsky, Ovechkin: The Great 8 raps (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – A performance hat trick? He’s well on his way.

The Great 8 just added another feather to his triple threat cap. Alexander Ovechkin drops a verse on a new Russian rap, whose title loosely translates (with a little help from Google) to “Champion. Ali Bagautinov a clip of Sasha White.”

The Capitals captain throws down some hot rhymes (we assume) about two and a half minutes into the video. Unfortunately the entire song is in Russian, but here are a few words WTOP was able to pick out: Superhero, Michael Jordan, Bruce Lee, Olympia, football, samba and champion, which is repeated frequently.

The video features athletes demonstrating their respective sports, such as BMX bicycling, soccer football futbol, and various forms of martial arts including kickboxing. It also shows a gentleman in a fedora who seems to have a hard time holding on to his rubles.

Featured throughout is Ovechkin — whose fingers are censored out at one point — whose presence culminates in a performance the other Russian literary masters would surely appreciate.
