Chiccitt, Moyer power Robert Morris in 45-31 victory over Long Island

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Anthony Chiccitt threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns, DJ Moyer scored a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Robert Morris outlasted Long Island University 45-31 on Saturday.

The Colonials, who have not won the Northeast Conference since 2010, improved to 3-0 in league, 4-3 overall. RMU overcame an outstanding game by LIU quarterback Ethan Greenwood, who had 369 yards of total offense.

Greenwood’s 69-yard pass to Aviyon Smith-Mack set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Jared Lewis that gave the Sharks their first lead, 31-30 early in the fourth quarter but Robert Morris regained the lead on the ensuing possession when Moyer’s 15-yard touchdown run capped a nine-play 75-yard drive.

Greenwood’s 36-yard completion to Michael Love set up Long Island with first-and-goal at the 10-yard line late in the fourth. After two keepers by Greenwood netted minus-4 yards, he threw incomplete on third and fourth down, handing the ball back to Robert Morris with 2 1/2 minutes remaining.

Chiccitt then hit Shawn Charles on an 86-yard touchdown pass that sealed the win.

Chiccitt completed 19 of 25 passes, and Moyer ran for 88 yards and scored twice. Charles had 141 yards receiving with two scores and Noah Robinson had one touchdown to go with 126 yards receiving.

Greenwood was 13-of-26 passing for 222 yards and added 147 yards rushing on 25 carries. Smith-Mack had three receptions for 107 yards and Love caught seven for 97 yards.

Chiccitt threw two touchdown passes in the first half and Keon Freeman returned a fumble 9 yards for a touchdown, leading to Robert Morris’ 23-10 halftime lead.

The Sharks rallied in the third quarter, scoring on runs of 48 yards by Pat Bowen and 24 yards by Luca Stanzani. A 1-yard TD run by Moyer helped keep RMU ahead 30-24 heading to the fourth.
