WASHINGTON — Talk about a wall of sound — or the ultimate jam session.
One thousand musicians gathered in Italy to perform the Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly” at the same time in an attempt to lure the popular band to play a concert there. And of course, the YouTube video has gone viral.
The project’s creator, Fabio Zaffagnini, said he’s been working for over a year to make the performance happen in hopes of enticing the band to play in the town of Cesana, in Italy’s Romagna region.
He and his friends formed Rockin’ 1000 to organize crowdfunding and to recruit musicians.
“One thousand rockers that came from all over the nation, at their own expense, for one song, your song,” said Zaffagnini, looking directly at the camera. “Our call is to ask you, the Foo Fighters, to come and play for us.”
And apparently, the effort worked. Late Thursday night, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl tweeted:
Ci vediamo a presto, Cesena…. xxx Davide https://t.co/o3ThIE4QYV @rockin_1000
