WASHINGTON — Authorities in Montgomery County have a good example to show people about why you shouldn’t play with fireworks.
A vehicle suffered more than $5,000 worth of damage when fireworks went off inside it on Hunting Quarter Road in Poolesville, Maryland.

Fortunately no one was hurt, but investigators said no one called the fire department even though they believe more than 20 people were present at the time.
Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire Department said on Twitter that people at the scene tried to put out the fire themselves but with no luck.

The burned out jeep was just one of more than a dozen fires caused by fireworks. Piringer said At least one person in Wheaton was seriously injured by them.
All fireworks are illegal in Montgomery County.
