Police suspect Xanax sent Bethesda high schools students to hospital

WASHINGTON — Six Bethesda, Maryland, high school students suspected of taking prescription drugs during the school day were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., Montgomery County police responded to Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School for reports of six students who ingested a substance. Police suspect the students took Xanax.

All students were responsive after initial evaluations, according to a police spokesman. Four of those students were transported for further medical evaluation and the other two were picked up by their parents.

Police said they are still investigating.
