WASHINGTON — Parents in the Chevy Chase area are being warned about a suspicious man approaching children.
In a letter written by the National Presbyterian School in D.C., and shared by the National Cathedral School, officials says there were three incidents Friday where a man approached children asking them about schools nearby.
In one case, a man described to be in his 50s or 60s approached two boys playing outside of their home in a neighborhood off of East-West Highway asking if he could give them a ride to school.
According to the account from a parent, the seven-year-old boy told the man “no,” and said he takes the bus. The man responded, “I can give you a ride. Just tell me where you go to school.”
The kids ran inside the house and police were called.
They described the man as being in his 50s or 60s, with dark skin, grey hair, wearing a baseball cap and speaking with an accent. The boy told his parent the man drove a bluish-green hatchback similar to a Mazda 5.
The National Presbyterian School also says they know about two other situations involving a man with a similar description. One incident happened near a bus stop on Western Avenue Friday morning and another happened on a walk near Rock Creek Friday afternoon.
In both instances, the man was trying to talk to the girls and in one occasion asking about schools nearby.
Montgomery County Police tell WTOP they know about the situation and are looking into it. However, if you have any similar experiences, you are asked to call police and make a report.
