WASHINGTON — One firefighter was hurt while putting out a fire at a Montgomery County home early Monday morning. Also, crews worked to limit damage caused by a fire hydrant that broke during the fire response.
A fire broke out at a home located in the 2200 block of Kingshouse Road in Burtonsville after midnight. The home was engulfed in flames and one firefighters fell through the roof while fighting the blaze.
The firefighter – whose name has not yet been released – was treated and released from an area hospital.
There were no other injuries, but a cat is missing.
Seven-five firefighters responded to the house fire to fight the flames.
The fire started in the basement and caused about $800,000 in damage.

In the same neighborhood, a broken fire hydrant sent a geyser of water gushing into the sky. The hydrant broke as fire crews used it to fight the Kingshouse Road house fire.
The water main break is on Peach Orchard Road in Silver Spring. At least one nearby house is flooded because of the water main break.
Crews worked to stop the water flow before it spread to other nearby homes.
Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission responded to the scene and turned off the water around 8 a.m.
