A lighthouse in Virginia Beach that was the first federally funded construction project in the U.S. is set to close soon for a $1.5 million restoration project.
The restoration is estimated to begin in fall 2018, and will help with erosion stabilization, and will include a concrete platform to protect the lighthouse’s base and new interpretive signs

The Virginia Tech team won the top prize in the harvesting category at the agBOT Challenge and received $30,000 for their creation – an autonomous watermelon harvesting system that can locate, identify, sort and harvest ripe watermelons in a field.

JK Moving, the largest independent moving company in North America, has purchased an 87-acre parcel of land in Northern Loudoun County, known as Stumptown Woods, for $1 million and placed it into conservation easement.
