WASHINGTON — If you’ve thought the moon seems a bit bigger in the sky lately, you’d be right.

While the moon obviously isn’t growing, it has appeared to be a bit bigger and last night it officially became known as the harvest moon.

NASA’s website says the harvest moon is the name of a full moon that happens within two weeks of the autumnal equinox, or when fall begins. This year that was Sept. 22.

It gets its name because it produces enough light that farmers would have been able work into the night to collect their fall harvest.

Check out the photos of the moon in the sky like a big pizza pie.
