Woman killed in hit-and-run crash on Indian Head Highway

UPDATE, 5/19/2017, 8:51 p.m.  ACCOKEEK, Md. — A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Indian Head Highway Friday morning.

Nefertiti Kemoris Horton, 39, was struck while walking on the northbound side of Indian Head Highway, police statement said.  The driver did not stay. Horton died on the scene, Prince George’s County police said.

The collision happened at around 12:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes about a half mile north of Farmington Road. Investigators are determining whether Horton was on the shoulder or on the roadway when she was struck.

The northbound lanes were blocked until 5:25 a.m. so police could investigate and collect evidence.

Police have not said what type of vehicle may have been involved in the crash.
