Maryland car dealer arrested in NY on weapons charges

NEW YORK (AP) — Maryland car dealer Jacob “Jack” Antwerpen was arrested in New York on Wednesday after authorities determined he did not have a valid license for several firearms found aboard his yacht.

The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/2aFdWhm ) that U.S. Coast Guard officers pulled over Antwerpen’s yacht for a routine vessel inspection when they found one handgun, two shotguns and a rifle inside a safe on the boat.

Police say Antwerpen had a permit for the firearms but it had expired. He was taken into custody by the New York Police Department Harbor Unit, issued a ticket and released.
