POOLESVILLE, Md. (AP) — A piglet rescued by a family from the side of the road in the middle of a massive blizzard has found a permanent home.

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary reports Wee Wee the piglet moved to his new home Wednesday at Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, Maryland. The 2-week-old piglet will join other abandoned and neglected farm animals inside a heated, red-roofed barn.

The animal was discovered Friday by the Smith family on the side of a road near Hagerstown, Maryland. The family said it spotted a pink lump in the snow and stopped their car to rescue the animal. Perry Smith, the father, says the piglet was squealing wildly and encrusted in ice.

The Smiths took the animal in before eventually sending it to the sanctuary.
