WASHINGTON — Two women died Sunday after the boat they were in struck an object at Francis Scott Key Bridge.
Six other people were rescued and are in the hospital, Maryland Natural Resources police said.
The accident was reported to authorities at around 3:30 a.m. A 40-foot boat carrying eight passengers on the Patapsco River hit concrete abutment about 50 yards from Key Bridge along a shipping channel that protect it from boat strikes, police said.
Two women were ejected from the boat. The body of one woman was recovered at just before 8:30 a.m. The body of the other woman was found hours later.
