Arrest made in Adelphi homicide

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County Police arrested a suspect Friday evening in connection with the homicide that took place earlier the same day in Adelphi, Maryland. The suspect is 54-year-old Rudolph Timothy Phelps, Sr. of the 9200 block of Edwards Way in Adelphi.

 

Police say on Feb. 6, 2015, at about 11:30 a.m., patrol officers were called to the 9200 block of Edwards Way for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a woman inside of a condo suffering from trauma to the body. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

A preliminary investigation by  Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit suggests Phelps recently got into an argument with the victim which escalated into the homicide. Phelps is charged with first degree murder.

 

The victim’s name will be released once her family is notified.
