Car crashes into Metrobus on 16th Street in NW

WASHINGTON — The Monday-morning commute into the District from Montgomery County was slowed when a Metrobus crashed after being hit by a car.

The accident happened at around 6 a.m. on 16th Street at Underwood Street in Northwest. The car hit the accordion of the bus, causing the bus to jump the curb and hit a tree, then a low wall on a private property.

Metro says 13 people were on the bus at the time and no one was hurt on board.

The driver of the car was checked out at the scene for any injuries. The D.C. police are still investigating the crash.

Metro says buses heading south on 16th Street are diverting at Aspen Street and getting back onto 16th Street at Missouri Avenue.
