WASHINGTON — While July 4 falls on a Saturday, many are taking July 3 as a holiday. Here’s what is closed and how parking and transit are affected.
CLOSED ON JULY 3
- Federal offices closed.
- Local government offices closed, except for emergency and essential services.
- Schools closed.
- Courts closed, except lockups and arraignments.
Parking and Transportation changes
- In D.C., no parking enforcement, except near Nationals Park, RFK Stadium and along Constitution Ave. parade route.
- In Maryland, no parking fees, except at the New Carrollton garage, National Harbor and the Prince George’s Department of Corrections.
- In Virginia, HOV restrictions lifted. Holiday regulations in effect.
- No meter enforcement in Arlington and Alexandria on Friday and Saturday.
- Metrorail will be open until 3 a.m., with free parking.
- Operating on a Saturday schedule are Metrobus and Ride On.
- MARC‘s Penn Line is on a Saturday schedule. MARC’s Brunswick Line is on an “S” schedule. No Camden Line service.
- Fairfax Connector on a holiday weekday schedule.
- PRTC OmniRide is on a modified schedule.
- MetroAccess has regular service hours.
- Operating on a Sunday schedule is DASH.
- Not in service: VRE; The Bus; Loudoun Bus; MTA commuter services.
