WASHINGTON — It appears two people who broke into an area lighthouse didn’t know surveillance cameras were watching their every move.
Maryland Natural Resources Police say the break-in happened around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4 at the Point Lookout Lighthouse in St. Mary’s County, where the Potomac River meets the Chesapeake Bay.

Police say the trespassers broke a lower window to get inside.
Surveillance video shows a man and a woman walking through a doorway and down a staircase, using their cellphones as flashlights.
The lighthouse began operating in 1830, and some people believe the lighthouse is haunted.
