Metro announces service changes for Tuesday

WASHINGTON — Metro has announced service changes for Tuesday, following Monday’s incident at L’Enfant Plaza:

Metro says Green Line trains will run normal service every 6 minutes between Branch Avenue and Greenbelt. Trains will stop at L’Enfant Plaza.

All Yellow Line service will be replaced with additional Blue Line trains between Huntington and Largo Town Center, via Rosslyn, Metro says. Those trains are in addition to the normal Blue Line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Largo Town Center that are operating every 12 minutes.

Trains on the Blue Line will depart every 12 minutes from Huntington and Franconia-Springfield.

This means King Street will see Blue Line trains every 6 minutes to accommodate Yellow and Blue Line riders, says Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.

Metro advises passengers use Green Line trains for service between Greenbelt and downtown D.C.

Because Metro is running additional Blue Line trains, fewer trains are running

“In order to provide that addional Blue Line service to compensate for the lack of Yellow Line service over the bridge this morning, we had to make some reductions in the number of trains running on the Orange and Silver Lines,” says Stessel.

Orange Line trains will run every eight minutes between Vienna and New Carrollton.

Silver Line trains will run every 12 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Largo Town Center, with many trains expanded to 8 cars long to provide additional capacity.

Red Line service will be unaffected.

Metro advises people to look into taking the bus.
