WASHINGTON — What was last weekend’s most exciting local high school football game?
Old Mill and Arundel looked like a big matchup in Millersville, Maryland coming in, but the Patriots ran away — literally — with a 16-point victory, thanks to a stout ground attack.
Meanwhile, Centreville and Tuscarora battled through a barnburner in Leesburg, Virginia, with the hometown Huskies remaining undefeated on the back of a 49-42 win.
You could certainly make the argument for St. John’s and its triple-overtime, 29-23 upset of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland in both teams’ WCAC opener.
Of course, games mean more than simply the action on the field. There are historic rivalries, as well as untold back stories of athletes and coaches persevering through adversity. These can provide compelling drama as well.
The point is, there are great games happening every week in the D.C. area, and we want you to tell us which ones to cover. That’s why we’re picking three games every week for you to choose between.
Vote in the poll below between Monday morning and 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night, and WTOP will cover the game that gets the most votes.
Want to make sure we don’t forget to list a big game? Email Noah Frank and let him know which upcoming games WTOP should have on its radar as the season progresses. And don’t forget to check back each week to see which games are on the docket.
UPDATE: Our first game will be DeMatha at St. John’s on Saturday. Thanks for voting and check back next week to see our next set of finalists.
