WASHINGTON — Police in Howard County, Maryland, have charged a 32-year-old man from Reston, Virginia, with sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy.
Joseph Coffinberger, of Royal Fern Court in Reston, Virginia, has been charged with rape and sexual solicitation of a minor. He is being held without bond.
Detectives were notified this week that the boy from Ellicott City told a parent that Coffinberger had been driving from Virginia to have sex with him at least once a week since January, Howard County police said in a news release Wednesday.
Police said the two met through a livestreaming video app.
According to police, the boy said Conffinberger would pick him up near his home and often take him to a motel.
When Coffinberger arrived to meet the boy in Ellicott City on May 22, he was arrested by police.
Police said they are concerned that Coffinberger may have victimized other children in Maryland or Virginia.
