2 killed in separate crashes in Ellicott City

WASHINGTON — Two people are dead in two separate crashes Sunday in Howard County, Maryland.

A single-vehicle crash killed 21-year-old Saif Bryant, of Columbia, Maryland, just before 3:30 a.m. Howard County police said in a news release that Bryant was traveling northbound on Centennial Lane approaching Burnside Drive when, for an unknown reason, he left the roadway and struck a tree. His car then caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second fatal crash happened just before 8 p.m. Dante Taylor, of Ellicott City, was traveling westbound on Frederick Road toward Folly Quarter Road. He tried to pass another car on the shoulder, hitting it on the side. Taylor’s car left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Taylor was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car he struck had minor injuries and treated on the scene.

Police are investigating the crashes.
