Police: Man killed by train was shooting suspect in Jessup

WASHINGTON — A man, who was a suspect in a double shooting at a truck stop in Jessup, has died in Prince George’s County from an apparent suicide.

Jacinto Del Prado, 52, of Greenbelt, was struck and killed by a train around 7 a.m. in Lanham, Maryland, according to Howard County police. The department had obtained an arrest warrant for Del Prado overnight for shooting two men — killing one, and leaving the other in critical condition — at a truck stop on Assateague Drive on Sunday.

Officers were called to the shooting scene around 1 p.m. Sunday and located a dead man — Chad Dewayne Daniel, 44, of Wesley Chapel, Fla. — and another injured — Warren Anthony Weeden, 57, of Baltimore. Both were suffering from gunshot wounds. Weeden was taken to Shock Trauma and is currently in stable condition.

Police say Del Prado went to the truck stop to confront a man about a domestic matter. Detectives say Daniel and Weeden may have been shot in a case of mistaken identity.

Howard County police are working with Prince George’s County police. The investigation is ongoing.
