WASHINGTON — One person was killed in a house fire in Ellicott City, Maryland, Monday afternoon.
The Howard County Fire and Rescue Services says that they got the call at about 4 p.m. Monday for a fire at a house on Doncaster Road, near Chews Vineyard. When they got there, they say, they found fire consuming the house and coming through the roof and were told someone may have still been inside.
They got into the house as soon as fire conditions eased enough that it was possible, but by the time they found a woman inside, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police have identified her as 70-year-old Betty Ann Davis.
A dog and a cat were also killed in the fire. Another person who lived in the house is getting help from the American Red Cross.
