Education secretary Cardona visits reopened Prince George’s County school

A newly reopened Prince George’s County, Maryland, school got a visit from the country’s top education official.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has been visiting schools across the country for the “Help is Here” School Reopening Tour. On Tuesday, he visited Mary Harris “Mother” Jones Elementary in Adelphi.

The school has 50% of students back to in-person learning. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, as well as Maryland state and county school officials, joined Cardona for the tour.

The “Help is Here” tour is part of President Joe Biden’s administration’s effort to support states, schools, students, parents and educators as they navigate returning to in-person learning and “highlight how the American Rescue Plan will aid them in these efforts.”
