President Joe Biden is expected to sign the widest-ranging gun violence bill Congress has passed in decades into law Saturday morning.
The bill, drafted in response to deadly mass shootings around the country, passed the Democratic-led House on Friday with a mostly party line vote of 234-193.
Drafted with bipartisan support, the new legislation will toughen requirements for young people buying guns, deny firearms for more domestic abusers and allow local authorities to temporarily take weapons from people deemed dangerous.
Biden is expected to move on the legislation at 8:30 a.m.
