All eyes in the American soccer world focused on D.C. this week as an all-star team featuring the best of Major League Soccer took on English Premier League side Arsenal at Audi Field.
The Gunners scored three times in the second half to earn a 5-0 victory over the MLS All-Stars in front of 20,621 spectators, setting a new attendance record at the Southwest venue. Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz all scored, entertaining the many red-clad Arsenal supporters in the crowd.
On Tuesday, the London-based side narrowly defeated the MLS All-Stars 6-5 in the Skills Challenge after American Auston Trusty’s 40-yard chipshot connected with the crossbar during the Crossbar Challenge.
