Some VIP, or very important papers, boarded the “Freedom Plane” on Monday at Reagan National Airport in Virginia for a national tour to bring “Founding-era documents” across the country as part of America’s 250th anniversary.

The tour hits museums in eight cities:

  • Kansas City, Missouri, at the National WWI Museum and Memorial from March 6 to March 22
  • Atlanta at the Atlanta History Center from March 27 to April 12
  • Los Angeles at the University of Southern California Fisher Museum of Art from April 17 to May 3
  • Houston at the Houston Museum of Natural Science from May 8 to May 25.
  • Denver at the History Colorado Center from May 28 to June 14
  • Miami at the HistoryMiami Museum from June 20 to July 5
  • Dearborn, Michigan, at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation from July 9 to July 26
  • Seattle at the Museum of History & Industry from July 30 to Aug. 16

The documents include the original engraving of the Declaration of Independence from 1823, the Articles of Association from 1774, the oaths of allegiance of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, and others.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The National Archives said the tour was inspired the Bicentennial Freedom Train.
