We all know about the popular Toyota Corolla compact sedan. Now you can get a small crossover version called the Corolla Cross Hybrid that is easy on gas while gaining some space and AWD.

For 2023, the Corolla Cross gains a fuel-efficient hybrid version that really is miserly with a gallon of gas. I saw over 46 mpg for the week I had this ride. It also packs more power when compared to the all-gas version which is sleepy. The little Corolla Cross is a comfortable daily driver and it’s easy to maneuver on tighter city streets. It comes with standard AWD, something many of these little crossovers don’t offer.

The interior of the Corolla Cross Hybrid S, even in the least costly version, comes equipped with technology. An 8-inch touch screen with optional premium sound is easy to use with good graphics. Finally, the system is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible, and you connect wirelessly.

Front seat riders have comfortable cloth seats that are good for longer trips. However, back seat riders might find the rear seat legroom lacking compared to some of the competition. Cargo space for this little crossover is better than you’d expect and, if you fold the back seats flat, it allows longer cargo to slide in.

The Corolla Cross Hybrid S is more stylish than you might expect for something with the Corolla name on it. LED lighting, a blacked-out front grill and other trim pieces, flared fenders and plenty of curves and interesting lines will get this crossover noticed. The entry level version has 17-inch aluminum wheels and a rear spoiler to keep that sportier look for a price that won’t break the bank. If you choose a higher trim level version, you can elevate the sport with larger wheels and two-tone paint.
