WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police say the Wednesday morning killing of a gas station clerk in the Franklin Farm Village Shopping Center in Herndon, Virginia, possibly began as a robbery.

Police say the killing of Resham Bajgain, happened inside the Sunoco gas station in the 13300 block of Franklin Farm Road at 1:15 a.m. Police found Bajgain, 40, of Herndon, dead with blunt force trauma to the upper body.

Homicide detectives and patrol officers responded to the scene, where the suspect, Mohamed Abdullahi, was immediately arrested in the shopping center parking lot.

Detectives believe that Abdullahi, 19, of Herndon, approached several people in the shopping center.

Police are hoping to speak to the driver of a Pontiac GTO, a potential witness who was spotted near the Sunoco around the time of the homicide.

The gas station remains an active crime scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police. Police say this is the eighth homicide of the year.
