WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police have arrested a man who could have been involved in a car crash on southbound Route 28 in Herndon, Virginia, that led to a closure of the roadway Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., police said they received a call about a crash and a man possibly involved seen fleeing the scene without his clothes on. The crash and search for the man in a nearby wooded area caused southbound Route 28 to close to traffic between Old Ox Road and Frying Pan Road.
According to police, one of the drivers involved in the crash had gotten out of his car and assaulted another driver involved in the impact. The suspect undressed, police said, and then jumped on a passing vehicle driving on Route 28. The suspect caused damage to that vehicle, got off it and ran from the scene, police said.
The man was later found on Dulles International Airport property and arrested Tuesday night. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. There aren’t any other reported injuries, police said.
Police are still working to identify the suspect and charges are pending.
A driver used his cellphone to capture footage of the suspect. Watch the video below.
