Former Va. man arrested in Fla., accused of 1995 sexual assault

WASHINGTON — A man who moved from Fairfax County to Florida last month has been arrested there and faces charges of sexually assaulting four women in Reston 22 years ago.

The Fairfax County police said in a statement Monday that Jude Lovchik, of Ocala, Florida, was arrested there by their own detectives and officers from the Ocala police after a traffic stop Wednesday morning.

He’s been charged with being a fugitive from justice, but the Fairfax County police said he’ll face charges of armed burglary, abduction with intent to defile and sodomy when he gets back to Fairfax County.

On Aug. 25 of this year, the police said, DNA evidence confirmed that Lovchik was the suspect in a sexual assault that happened June 6, 1995, in an apartment on Olde Tiverton Circle, in Reston. Lovchik, who had been living in Springfield, moved to Florida in September.

Lovchik will be extradicted back to Virginia in about two weeks, said Fairfax County Police Department spokeswoman Julie Parker.

The police are asking anyone with more information about Lovchik, or who may have been victimized by him, to call them at 703-246-4623.
