WASHINGTON — A house fire early Sunday morning in Fairfax County, Virginia, left two residents hospitalized and two pets dead.
Dan Gray, deputy chief with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, said crews responded around 5:30 a.m. to the blaze in the 6300 block of Villa Lane. The fire was under control about a half-hour later.
Of the four occupants who escaped the house, two suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital, Gray said. Five dogs were also in the residence, but only three escaped. The Red Cross is assisting survivors.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
