WASHINGTON – What was meant to be a quick lunch break turned into a life-saving moment for two Fairfax County police officers when a choking man approached them Thursday.
Officers Mulhern and Weaver were taking their break in a Subway restaurant when a man came up to their table in distress, Fairfax County police said in a news release.
A video released by the Fairfax County Police Department shows the two officers immediately jumping up to assist the man. Officer Mulhern gave the man several back blows and then performed the Heimlich maneuver.
The officer’s actions cleared the man’s airway, the news release said.
According to the video, “all were able to finish enjoying their $5 footlongs.”
