Last-minute shopping stress? Not for these Va. mall patrons

WASHINGTON — It’s Christmas Eve and some people don’t have any Christmas shopping done, but they don’t seemed to be stressing out.

Take Zoel and Zuri Stackhouse, for instance.

They were headed into Springfield Town Center. The two were there to do their last-minute shopping.

“I’ve bought no Christmas presents at all,” Zuri Stackhouse said with a laugh.

Her sister Zoel, who lives in Woodbridge, said she hasn’t done any shopping yet either.

Apparently, it’s a family thing: They say they don’t think their parents have bought anything yet either.

Zuri Stackhouse does have a bit of an excuse. “I just got off a flight from Atlanta,” she said.

But the two are not worried.

“It’s all good, we’ll figure this out,” Zoel Stackhouse said.

Henry Proano, of Alexandria, said the crowds have kept him away: “The past few nights have been packed, so I haven’t been able to purchase everything I wanted.”

He figured he can knock out his shopping at the Springfield Town Center in about an hour and then get to spend time with the family.

Charlene Mickles, from Southeast Washington, said she finished her shopping, but was back helping her daughters finish up their Christmas shopping.

“Painless, very painless on Christmas Eve,” she said. “Believe it or not, there is a Christmas miracle on Christmas Eve.”
