The 53-year-old suspect was an acquaintance of the victim, police say.

On Thursday, July 16, Fairfax County police responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on the 8100 block of Curving Creek Court.

Police say they discovered Najim on the front stairs with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. Emergency crews transported him to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he died.

Detectives say they believe there had been an altercation in the home earlier in the evening on July 16. Najim left, and when he came back to the home, he was shot by the suspect, detectives say.

Lienau was charged on Friday, July 24 and is being held without bond.
