Introduction It’s another summer of movie revivals: “Ghostbusters,” “Jason Bourne,” “Pete’s Dragon,” “Ben Hur.” Such remakes, sequels and prequels almost always pale in comparison to their originals. So, when a remarkable one comes along, it deserves to be recognized for its greatness. Some are famous spinoffs. Others are classics you didn’t realize were actually remakes. NOTE: This list does not include TV-to-film adaptations (i.e. “The Fugitive”), nor does it include loose thematic trilogies (i.e. Baz Luhrmann’s “Red Curtain Trilogy” or Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Three Colors Trilogy”).
